Foot oversupination (an outward rolling of the foot) or overpronation (an inward rolling of the foot) can cause neck pain, back pain, hip pain, knee pain, shin pain, ankle and foot pain. Over time, an abnormal gait can lead to more frequent injuries and degenerative issues. Your chiropractor will do a thorough examination of your feet and gait pattern and take a foam cast impression of the soles of your feet to pinpoint how your foot is functioning abnormally. An orthotic with your specific needs will then be manufactured by Footmaxx, a Canadian-made orthotic company. Custom prescription-grade orthotics range from $350-500 per pair, the cost of which is covered by most health insurance providers. Please call your insurer before booking your orthotic consultation to ensure that they accept orthotics made by a chiropractor, when accompanied by an orthotic prescription from your family physician.
